Children's Yoga Program
We are very excited to now offer children's yoga classes! Designed specifically for kids, our classes adopt a playful approach that encourages confidence, focus and creativity. Our experienced teachers guide children through a transformative and educational practice in which they will learn breathing techniques, behavioral guidelines, proper posture and relaxation techniques.

The ABCs of Yoga for Kids

Children will learn a different yoga pose for every letter of the alphabet! To memorize the postures, children will be engaged in mindful and educational games. Children will learn breathing exercises to use throughout their everyday lives. Savasana will include a guided meditation with coloring and a drawing activity. This workshop is meant to introduce your child to yoga in a fun and safe way. Ages 5 - 10 years.

Yoga for Kids: A 6 Class Series

Week 1: Introduction to the ABCs of Yoga
Children will learn a yoga pose for every letter of the alphabet. 

Week 2: Linking Breath to Movement
Children will learn different types of breathing exercises and will discuss how breath can help them to overcome feelings, such as fear, anger, sadness, or to control excess energy. We will then learn about linking our breath to our movement through fun (and short) yoga sequences. 

Week 3: Sun Salutations!
Children will learn a basic sun salutation (surya namaskar). They will develop their own favorite posture to practice in the mornings and evenings, creating their own "sun" and "moon" salutations!

Week 4: Neck, Shoulders & Wrists
Children will learn new postures, aimed to stretch and strengthen the neck, shoulders and wrists. We will begin to play with the idea of using yoga postures to heal our bodies when they hurt.

Week 5: Legs & Balance
Children will learn new postures that work to strengthen and lengthen different parts of the lower body. We will play with balancing poses, using the bar and/or wall if necessary.

Week 6: What Yoga Means to Me
Children will have the opportunity to create their own yoga pose. Through a guided meditation with drawing and coloring they will work to realize what yoga means to them. 

Children will receive a worksheet for each week, breaking down what they have learned during each session. These worksheets will serve as tools for the children to continue to work with the information they learn during the series. Sign up soon; space is very limited!
